In 1973 he moved to Northbay on the Isle of Barra where he re-introduced the clarsach into the local musical tradition.  After spells in Glenfinnan and Campbeltown Fr Calum moved to Onich –and very active retirement. In addition to helping the local parish and beyond Fr Calum  continued to support the Society in every way possible. Bha na h-eich beaga beo anns na h-ealeanan a chionn linntean - fior shliochd nan eich an Alba. Thainig atharraichean beath do na h-ealeanaich an deidh an darna cogaidh. Cha robh an aon fheum air each. Chaidh aireamh nan eich sios gu mor air feadh nan eilean. Ach bha deannan math de dh'eich fhathast ann an Eirisgeidh nuair a chur Maighstir Raibeeart Beck a Tiriodh litir gu Maighstir Calum Mac Neil an Eirisgeidh ag iarraidh laire a cheannach - air son a toirt air ais gu Tiriodh. Fhuair e lair bhon bhantraich Catriona Nic a’Mhaolainn a Bunamhuilin. Rinn Mgr. Beck agus Mgr. Calum cordach: b’fhearr co-chomann a’steidheachadh. Sinn mar a dh’fhas Comann nan Each bhon Bliadhna 1972. Cha robh cinnteas mi àigeach gus do sabhail do Eòghann macLachlainn each beag a cheannaich Bean Eòghainn bho Aonghas Iain Mac a’Mhaolain as na Pairceanan. Tha Dia daonnan a’chruathachadh as – ur agus the sinne a’toirt taing do Dhia na cruitheachd a bheannaich na tha nis gu cinnteach claraichte ann an leabhair – cuimhne a’Chomainn!
